Top 6 Post Covid Wedding Trends

Mobile Bar Rental Service - Sip Social Co
It’s always fun to try to predict wedding trends, and with Covid restrictions beginning to relax in many parts of the world, this year should see a return to larger, more raucous celebrations. However, that doesn’t mean that weddings are going to immediately go back to how they were pre-pandemic. What’s changed? Well, for starters, couples will want their weddings to very much be a celebration of once again being able to gather with family and friends. In many cases, this could be the first time they’ve seen their loved ones in a couple of years. They’ll want to create unique, memorable experiences that will live on long after the guests have gone home. On top of that, even though the end of the pandemic appears to be in sight, it’s going to be a little while yet before things are completely back to normal. With the backlog of Covid postponed weddings and events, it’s going to be more competitive, and require ingenuity and flexibility, to secure wedding venues and suppliers. Read on to learn our 6 predictions on how weddings will change post-Covid.

1. Backyard Weddings

Backyard weddings have always been popular (our first ever Sip Social Co. event was a beautiful backyard wedding), but this trend definitely picked up momentum as restrictions on indoor gatherings were imposed and couples looked for ways to celebrate safely. As Covid restrictions continue to ease, the demand for indoor venues is only going to increase as postponed weddings and other events begin to set their dates. A backyard wedding means you won’t be competing with other events for a venue or paying a potentially inflated price resulting from this increased demand. Don’t have a backyard that is suitable for a wedding? Ask family and friends for suggestions!

2. Weekday Weddings

With the events industry facing a huge backlog of weddings due to Covid-related postponements, weekday weddings will be here to stay for at least the next year or two. While it’s true that a weekday wedding can be an inconvenience for guests, the happy couple will enjoy the benefits of greater availability, and potentially reduced costs, of caterers, photographers, venues, and other suppliers.

3. Unusual Seating Arrangements

In order to keep guests safe, wedding planners created some very unique seating and table arrangements to allow for social distancing. Some of these innovative room layouts have proven very popular and can give a wedding a contemporary, spacious feel. Even when guests are once again allowed to sit closer together some may not feel comfortable. If you’ve got the room, try out a table or seating plan that allows your guests to spread out.

4. Destination Weddings

While restrictions are being lifted in many parts of the world, there are still some areas with limits on social gatherings. Instead of waiting for restrictions to be lifted in your city, why not invite a small group of family and friends to join you for an exotic, destination wedding in a safe and accessible location? For many people, this could be just the excuse they’ve been waiting for to take their first vacation in two years or more.

5. Destination Weddings (at Home)

Had your heart set on a wedding in an exotic beach location that isn’t yet open for business? Try recreating the experience of a destination wedding with a travel-inspired ceremony, menu, music, and decor.

6. Invite a Virtual Guest List

While Covid launched the whole idea of Zoom weddings, that’ll be less and less popular as people are once again able to celebrate together. That said, not everyone is ready to party just yet. If there’s one thing that we’ve learned over the last couple of years is that there’s no one size fits all when it comes to attitudes towards Covid safety. Why not include a way for guests who are not comfortable attending your wedding, or weren’t invited due to a reduced size, to join in the fun?

No matter if it’s a single day wedding, or a multi-city, multi-day event, Sip Social Co. can help make your celebration one to remember. Contact us today to learn more.
